Colby was born and raised in Petersburg, Alaska. After he graduated from Petersburg High School he went right into the commercial fishing industry for the next 8 years. Colby joined the Breakaway Adventures team in the summer of 2023 and has been an excellent addition bringing his wealth of knowledge about the area that he learned from his time fishing the waters of Southeast Alaska. Colby is an avid outdoorsman and that combined with his fishing experience has made him one of the premier guides for our LeConte Glacier, Stikine River and Anan Bear Experience tours.
Peter has been driving boats and guiding tours with Breakaway for four years now, including local hiking and bear tours for several years prior. Born and raised on Kodiak Island, Peter moved to Wrangell in 1982 to build a cabin on the south end of Wrangell Island after winning a remote wilderness lot through Alaska’s last big homestead lottery program. Graduating with a degree in art from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, with courses in scientific illustration from the University of Washington, Peter illustrated “Anan, Stream of Living Water” by local author Bonnie Demerjian. Peter also worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game doing remote biological fieldwork from the Kuskokwim to Ketchikan, including 12 summers on the Stikine River. Peter takes advantage of the off season to travel the world, preferably by bicycle.
